A guard watches the number that is slipping away and raises an alarm instead of blocking. A forecast replaces a declared date with a calculated one. Each module carries a boundary rule, a written limit on what it will not do without a human decision.

A software house sells the whole thing up front, because that is how its margin works. Here you pay per stage and decide after each one whether going further makes sense.
